November 12, 2010, Hickory, NC]------Missing 10 year old Zahra Clare Baker's remains have been found, Hickory, North Carolina police revealed at a 4 p.m. press conference today.

Police Chief Tom Adkin, reportedly said at the press conference, that a bone found last week near where the prosthetic leg was found last month, matched Zahra's DNA.

Both the bone and leg were found near Christy Road in Caldwell County. Other skeletal remains have also been found but further test has to be done to confirm what the police say they already believe: that sadly, they belong to Zahra.

Chief Atkins reportedly had this to add, "Investigators, agents, officers and staff that work on this case are devastated they were not able to find Zahra alive and bring her home safely--- Our community mourns, our state mourns, our nation morns and the world morns, as we go forward."

Zahra, who was disabled and had lost her hearing and leg to bone cancer, was reported missing by her father, Adam Baker, on Oct 9th.

He allegedly told police that he last saw his daughter in bed, around 2:30 a.m. that Saturday morning and didn't realize she was missing until 2:00 p.m. that afternoon because he and Zahra's stepmom had slept late.

Stepmom Elisa has since been arrested and was indicted on November 1st, on charges of felony obstruction of justice, for falsifying a ransom note, which claimed that Zahra was kidnapped. She is being held on $40,000 bond.

Adam Baker has also been arrested but on an unrelated case. He has not been charged in Zahra's murder.

Since being in jail, the stepmom has claimed in a letter written to a crime writer, that her husband, Adam Baker, had done" terrible things with Zahra."

Earlier in the case, investigators had picked up the scent of human remains, through police dogs, at a mulch pile where the father worked and also near a wood-chipper.
