Best-selling author Brad Thor has offerred to buy George Zimmerman a new gun and an unlimited amount of ammunition.
According to the examiner.com, Thor made his offer after the Justice Department put a hold on the release of the gun Zimmerman used to shoot and kill Trayvon Martin.
The offer came in a series of tweets last Friday.
"Read this carefully, as I don't want 2 be misunderstood: SCREW the #DOJ. If they won't give #Zimmerman his gun back, I'll buy him a new one," he tweeted.
"Whatever gun he wants + however much ammo, consider it done. I'm buying. Done deal," he said in a tweet.
Thor's followers praised him, Zimmerman and the offer. Most of them even volunteered to help pay for Zimmerman's new gun.
“Hey @BradThor, I don't have much, but I'll help too, whatever Geotge needs. There a donation fund going? — (@Jeff_Ellington1) July 18, 2013”
“Not since LBJ has there been a greater enemy to black America than @BarackObama. — Brad Thor (@BradThor) July 18, 2013”
These are just a two of the overwhelmingly favorable tweets Thor received. In fact, Thor was so gratified by the responses that he took to his keyboard one more time:
“How many people would like to see me buy a new gun in Chicago and present it on TV to George #Zimmerman? — Brad Thor (@BradThor) July 18, 2013”
(NOTE: Problem with that, Brad, is that there are no gun shops in Chicago. But there are plenty in the "collar counties" (read: lily-white) suburbs.
“In fact, if George #Zimmerman also wants an AR15 or a shotgun - I'm also happy to buy... #2A #NRA — Brad Thor (@BradThor) July 18, 2013”
“OMG @BradThor YOU are "The Man!" #NRA #2A #SAF! I asked Trump to get him and his family out of the country. LOVE this idea! — Harriet Baldwin (@HarrietBaldwin) July 19, 2013”
Thor was later confronted on Friday on a Chicago morning television program –- “Windy City Live.” There, Thor gave a more expansive response to his critics:
“At what point do we let an American citizen get done with the justice process? I mean this is a big deal, this could happen to anybody. If the government can keep hounding you, this guy’s life is ruined at this point. I know we have a dead child here, but he was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. Trayvon Martin wasn’t on trial, George Zimmerman was, and he’s not guilty…at what point does he get to recommence his life?”
Co-host Roe Cohn, a white guy, asked Thor whether “it’s really a good idea to give George Zimmerman a gun back?”
“He’s not guilty!” Thor actually shouted. “And as a matter of fact, don’t you think he needs a gun now more than ever with all the death threats against him?”
The other co-host Val Warner, a black woman, asked Thor why Zimmerman would “even risk going through the same thing again” should he ever get his hands on another gun.
“That’s his decision, Val,” answered Thor. “It’s not for us to decide if we’re going to curtail his liberty or not, that is his Second Amendment right to possess a firearm, defend himself, defend his family, and it is not up to you, it’s not up to me, to decide what’s right for George Zimmerman. He’s an American citizen, he gets to decide what’s right for him,” Thor said.
Warner then allowed that, yes, Zimmerman has the right to bear arms. But, since this matter is not completed, why not wait until “after everything is over,” she asked.
“When’s it over? How much more does he have to go through?” Thor said. “There’s not a shred of evidence that he is a racist and yet the Department of Justice is freezing everything.”
In an email to The Blaze Friday afternoon, Thor said he had yet to hear from the Zimmerman family about his offer.
As for what type of gun he’d buy for Zimmerman, Thor said “he’ll need to decide for himself.”
“That’s the beauty of guns,” Thor said.
As stated, Brad Thor is a best-selling author of mystery and thriller novels.
This is not about George Zimmerman's or your “right to bear arms.”
This is about doubling down on the social control of black people, especially black men.
Now that this nation-state has become a fullly fledged “service,” “information,” and “knowledge” economy, low-skilled manufacturing jobs have essentially disappeared. Thus, blacks -- especially black men -- who have traditionally been concentrated in those jobs, are now a superfluous, extraneous, unnecessary, even burdensome population.
We are no longer needed to pick the cotton. Machines have been doing it for decades. The slaughter and packing houses have long closed. The really hard and back-breaking labor at this nation-state's docks and seaports, or in the now nonexistent or defunct steel and iron foundaries -- well, there is a whole other group of "colored" folk clamoring to get in from south of the border. They will work harder for less, and they will be grateful, thankful...and quiet.
So what must be done with these people? These descendents of slaves?
It started with Nixon and his "war on crime."
It morphed into Reagan's "war on drugs."
But, it has always been a war against black people -- especially black men -- sometimes overt, sometimes covert. We are in an overt period -- another one.
Lock as many of them up as possible. And for those who escape incarceration, monitor them day and night. Control their movements to the fullest extent possible. Wait for them to commit some minor crime as they try to feed their families. Then lock them up in these brand new, almost totally automated, computerized, state-of-the-art public and private "correctional facilities."
What we are witnessing here is the latest retrenchment, the latest "white backlash" against black peoples' forward movement. (They were not expecting Obama). Legions of white folks are circling the white racist, white privilege and white supremacist wagons around George Zimmerman.
Zimmerman's murder of Trayvon Martin (and it was murder, Mr. Thor) is perfectly understandable and reasonable -- necessary -- to the majority among white people who see black people as the most serious and ever-present threat to their “way of life.” For them, blackness itself is inherently “criminal” and must always be confronted, controlled, monitored, destroyed completely, if “necessary.”
That is the purpose of “stop and frisk” in New York City, and the “stand your ground” laws now extant in almost 30 states.
So Thor represents and provides a putatively neutral, "respectable" voice to a deep-seated, damn-near instinctive impulse in these people.
Thor sees Zimmerman as not necessarily a fellow “white man,” a Euro-American, because of his tainted Latin heritage. Still, Zimmerman has been given a pass by the likes of Thor. Zimmerman has been designated, accepted, and embraced as an “honorary white” – at least for the purpose of keeping black people in their place.
