Never judge a book by its cover: Boy's voice blows the roof off AGT (Video)
- Created Jun 22, 2012
I've always been different so I have learned very early in life not to judge a book by its cover. Andrew De Leon showed us just how true this adage is when he walked unto the stage of America's Got Talent during the Austin,Texas auditions and blew the roof off the joint.
Judges Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Sharon Osborne were speechless and so were the show's host Nick Cannon and the rapt audience. Some were moved to tears as he sang.
Andrew said that was his first time performing in front of anyone and not even his parents have heard him sing before. He literally takes your breathe away for one does not expect opera to come out of the voice of a young, goth-looking man complete with thick, black eyeliner, scary looking contact lenses and the Chris Angel all black look. I know many were expecting hard metal rock.
He said he was an outcast and as he tentatively stepped up to the mike and opened his mouth, he dispelled all those myths about you are what you look like. Nothing could be further from the truth.
So the next time you see that grungy teen, with dark goth or hip-hop sagging pants look, do not judge, you never know who lurks inside those clothes, the easily type-cast ensemble.
