Rick Santorum announced today at a press conference that he is suspending his 2012 bid for the White House.

The decision came after increasing pressure from Republican Party insiders who are eager to secure the nomination for frontrunner Mitt Romney.

Santorum began his decline after campaigning on social issues that were viewed with negativity by women voters. He also lost the last three primary races to Mitt Romney in Wisconsin, Washington D.C., and Maryland.

Santorum did not comment on when or if he would release his delegates, which could bring Romney closer to the 1144 needed to clinch the 2012 GOP nomination.
