10.28.11 (Greenville, SC) 10 schools were reportedly put on lockdown in Greenville, South Carolina on Friday because of a gunman on the loose.

The schools were closed as a precautionary measure for the incident happened nearby. Authorties say students and school personnel were not in immediate danger.

According to CNN, the gunman opened fire on a police officer as he was about to check out a suspicious vehicle around 10:00 a.m.

Nearby officers undergoing training reportedly ran to the aid of the lone officer, who fortunately wasn't hurt.

The unknown gunman reportedly ran into the nearby wood and hasn't been seen since.

No one was hurt and some schools have reopened. Police are still hunting the gunman.
